Explore the blacksmithing services and metalworking processes at the Baja workshop — from hand forging to the final finishing of each product.
Our Services
Blacksmithing and metalworking services
At the Baja workshop, we provide comprehensive metalworking services based on manual craftsmanship, experience, and traditional blacksmithing knowledge. Each process is tailored to the material and intended use of the product, with a focus on durability, functionality, and quality finishing.
Grinding
Grinding is a metalworking process used to achieve the correct shape and prepare the surface for further processing. It is carried out progressively, from coarser to finer grits. Grinding is performed by hand, as each workpiece is unique. We adapt the process to each item to ensure the right balance between functionality and durability.
Sharpening
Hand sharpening is performed according to the intended use of the tool, with precise control of the angle and final edge. The goal is not just sharpness, but long-lasting usability and safety in use. Each knife has its own purpose and therefore requires a specific sharpening angle. We do this by hand, without gloves, allowing us to control the temperature of the blade during sharpening.
Polishing
Polishing is a process used to achieve a high-gloss finish and serves as the final step of production, improving both the appearance and the surface resistance. At the Baja workshop, it is carried out by hand to ensure maximum adaptation to each blade, regardless of its intended use.
Hardening
Hardening is a heat treatment process in which the carbon in the material is brought to the desired structure and retained by heating the material to a specific temperature and then cooling it (in water or oil, depending on the product and its intended use), allowing it to achieve the required hardness. Hardening is carried out by hand and tailored to each individual product. After hardening, a normalization process follows, achieving the optimal balance between hardness and flexibility, which is essential for durability and a long service life of the tool.
Forging
Forging is a process in which the material is compressed and structurally bonded, giving the product its essential properties. It is carried out at temperatures between 850 and 1100°C. This process is extremely important because it allows full control over the quality and shape of the product. It also enables significantly higher hardness after hardening compared to industrial products that are only ground, as the material becomes structurally bonded through forging.
Metal engraving
Engraving allows product personalization, whether it’s a name, symbol, or short inscription.
It is carried out with precision, respecting both the appearance and functionality of the tool.
Machine forging
Machine forging is used in certain stages of preparation for hand forging, where additional precision or repeatability is required. It remains part of a combined process with manual finishing.
Product manufacturing
At the Baja workshop, we produce hand-forged items such as cleavers, knives, and hoes, designed for real and long-term use. Each product goes through the complete blacksmithing process—from forging and hardening to final finishing and handle making. Every stage of production is carried out by hand.

Our tradition
39 years of blacksmithing experience and trust
The blacksmithing craft at the Baja workshop has been practiced since 1987. Through decades of work, we have gained experience that cannot be learned from books, but only through practice, mistakes, and continuous improvement.
Every process, whether it involves metalworking or product manufacturing, is based on proven techniques, a deep understanding of the material, and responsibility toward the end user.
- Handcrafted work and traditional blacksmithing knowledge
